While the language remains lyrical, the intimacy is on the page and central to the growth of the characters, their relationships, and, at times, the plot itself.

    Finally, you will meet characters who carry heavy histories and deep wounds. Some forms of trauma are referenced in passing rather than depicted directly. These include the loss of a child, the cultural erasure of children born with disabilities, and the purging of those deemed “useless” by society.

    “The best way for me to describe this book is epic. Epic romance, epic fantasy, epic world-building. While romance is central to the story, there’s still so much development going on outside of it.

    I am actually obsessed with Auryn and how lyrical she is when she speaks. She’s literally my new role model as a disability rep! Even as she has the ailment you still go through the story like… is Kail protecting her or is she protecting him. Auryn is wonderful in showing that you can not be strong in the traditional sense and still be something so uplifting to others and show them that physical strength isn’t the only thing that matters.”
